This website is a resource for the international Complex Mess community and all people who are looking for new and different ways to engage with Complex Messes.
Happy Coddiwompling!
Coddiwomple: to travel purposefully toward an as-yet-unknown destination
We acknowledge the swirling and constantly changing nature of Complex Messes and so, rather than presenting you with a perfect product, this website is more of an emergent process, perfect (we think) in its imperfection.
In addition to exploring the resources, we invite you to contribute to the evolution of this website in many ways by sharing your own ideas, thoughts and resources. And keep coming back, as you will always find something new!
On the Practice page, you will find information about 3 Pillars of Complexity Practice which describe areas of work practice development for engaging with Complex Messes, as well as 6 Principles for engaging with Complex Messes, that can guide your work practice.
In the Sandpit, you will find new thoughts and articles about Complexity and Complex Messes. We also invite you to share your own thoughts here. We have a placeholder for our Complex Mess Podcast which we really hope (!) and intend to get up and running soon! If you would like to be involved in a conversation about your Complex Mess, let us know!
The Library contains links to some practical online tools that are useful for engaging with Complex Messes, as well as book (we love books!) and podcast (we love podcasts almost as much as books!) suggestions.
While we recognise that everyone will have their own ways of engaging with Complex Messes, we share with you our Values for engaging with Complex Messes. These values are deeply personal and close to our hearts. All resources on this website and people involved are aligned with these values. Please tell us if you ever experience anything on this website or in our community that you feel is out of alignment with these values.
Join our Complex Mess Community, either in-person or online, to connect with and support others who are grappling with Complex Messes.
Finally, if you would like assistance and support as you Coddiwomple with Complex Messes, you can find a list of people who can help and links to their contact information in the Collective.
We hope this website is useful, and we welcome feedback at any time. Hope to hear from you soon!
Best wishes from your Hosts,
Meredith and Dave
With thanks to Jessamy Gee (Think in Colour) for creating the Complex Mess character!
Complex Mess
We acknowledge all Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia, where we work and live that is the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, and we recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been managing Complex Messes in this place for thousands of years. We pay respect to their Elders, past and present.
