The Australian Government Futures Primer was developed by the Policy Projects and Taskforce Office in the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet. It provides an overview of Futures methodologies and their practical application to policy development and advice. While written for policy officers, it is a fantastic resource for anyone interested in the practical application of Futures work. It includes a four-stage model for applying Futures and 9 core techniques, such as horizon scanning, scenarios and backcasting, as well as 7 complementary tools, including systems mapping and Causal Layered Analysis (CLA).

Complex Mess
We acknowledge all Traditional Custodians of Country throughout Australia, where we work and live that is the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, and we recognise their continuing connection to land, water and community. We acknowledge that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have been managing Complex Messes in this place for thousands of years. We pay respect to their Elders, past and present.
